Sewer rodding, repair and replacement
Chicagoland's older clay and cast iron sewers take a beating from roots, settling and heavy rain. We rod and clear main lines, run a camera so you see exactly what we see, and repair or replace what actually needs it, from a single spot repair to a full sewer line replacement.
Most homes in the south and southwest suburbs were built with clay tile or cast iron sewers. Clay lasts a long time, but every joint is an invitation for tree roots, and after fifty or sixty years the joints shift, the roots get in, and the line starts backing up after every heavy rain. Cast iron scales and eventually cracks along the bottom.
We start with a rod and a camera. Rodding clears the line; the camera tells us why it clogged. A lot of the time the honest answer is that a yearly rodding is cheaper than a repair, and we'll tell you that. When the line is broken, bellied or collapsed, we dig and replace only the section that needs it, or the whole run from the house to the main when patching no longer makes sense.
We also handle the water that isn't in a pipe yet: drainage repair, foundation seepage, and new storm lines to carry downspout and sump discharge away from the house.

Sewer & Drain: common questions
How often should a sewer line be rodded?
With mature trees near the line, once a year is typical for clay tile sewers. With no root intrusion, many homes go years between roddings. A camera inspection tells you which one you are.
Do you have to dig up my yard to fix a sewer line?
Not always. Many problems are one bad joint or one broken section, and we dig only there. We show you the camera footage and the location before any digging starts.
Does homeowners insurance cover sewer line replacement?
Usually not under a standard policy, unless you added a service line or sewer backup endorsement. We can give you written findings and footage to send to your insurer either way.
